Three Clark County School Board incumbents were leading their respective races in early returns Wednesday, positioning them to retain seats on the seven-member body that sets policy and budgets for the district.
In District G, longtime Trustee Linda Cavazos held a 61.4% to 38.6% lead over attorney and educator Paul Casey. Cavazos, the board's longest-serving member, was appointed in 2017 and won her first full term in 2018; a victory would secure her third and final four-year term.
Vice President Irene Bustamante Adams led District F with 61.3% of the vote against Rob Hutchinson, the district's facility management director, who had 38.7%. Bustamante Adams, elected in 2022, was endorsed by the Clark County Education Association, while Hutchinson received backing from the Nevada State Education Association and Education Support Employees Association. District F covers the southwest Las Vegas Valley.
In District D, Trustee Brenda Zamora led education advocate David Gomez 66% to 34%. Zamora was elected in 2022; Gomez frequently attends board meetings to offer public comment. District D includes parts of the east and northeast Las Vegas Valley.
