Hall signs new contract with Newcastle until 2031

Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall has agreed to a new contract that will keep him at St James’ Park until 2031. The 22‑year‑old left‑back, who had been linked with a move to Manchester United, signed a two‑year extension to his existing deal. Hall described the agreement as a “really proud moment” to extend his stay at the club he has supported since childhood. “It’s an immense pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters,” he said. “I know how much it means to them.” He added, “To be able to bring joy to their faces is a big thing for me. I obviously have a family connection with the club, which is incredibly important to us all.” Hall also noted, “One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to see me playing for Newcastle United.” Reflecting on the start of the season, he said, “It’s a really good spot to be. It’s really pleasing with how we’ve started the season, particularly with the new gaffer [Matthias Jaissle] and coaching staff coming in, and I think we can go on to achieve really big things.” Since joining Newcastle from Chelsea in 2023, Hall has made 106 appearances for the club. Head coach Matthias Jaissle praised the defender’s impact, calling him a “very important player for us and for what we are building here.” Jaissle continued, “His mentality is exactly what you want in a young player. He wants to learn every time and he wants to be better in every match.” He added, “Lewis covers ground in a way that few players can. He defends with maturity and intelligence, and his technical level means he can push the squad higher up the pitch.” Jaissle concluded, “What excites me most is that I believe the best is yet to come from Lewis. He has a lot of room to develop, and I am looking forward to working with him as he grows with us.”
