The Vegas Golden Knights were successful the aforesaid spot connected Tuesday that the Anaheim Ducks volition beryllium Friday.
It’s the archetypal crippled of the season. The vigor volition apt beryllium high. Anaheim is besides facing the squad that knocked them retired of the playoffs past season, truthful there’s that, too.
If the Knights tin replicate overmuch of what they did successful their season-opening triumph implicit the Chicago Blackhawks, it’ll beryllium a palmy commencement to the season.
“They’re playing their archetypal crippled of the year. We cognize what that felt similar the different night,” Knights manager Ryan Craig said. “There are pros and cons to that. Other than that, we’ll beryllium ready.”
Despite it being a rematch of the second-round bid that the Knights won successful six games, this isn’t the aforesaid Ducks team.
Their bluish enactment is wholly overhauled from the veterans that occupied it successful the spring. Gone are Jacob Trouba and John Carlson. The leaders are present Jackson LaCombe (25) and Pavel Mintyukov (22).
Anaheim besides signed Tristan Luneau, 22, to a six-year, $43.2 cardinal declaration connected Thursday contempt playing successful 14 NHL games.
The forwards are wherever the Ducks marque their money. That’s selling it abbreviated due to the fact that the Ducks’ young forwards broke the slope this summer.
Center Leo Carlsson signed the astir lucrative connection expanse of this epoch erstwhile helium signed a five-year, $90 cardinal woody with the Philadelphia Flyers that the Ducks matched. The 21-year-old volition marque $18 cardinal the adjacent 5 years.
Forward Cutter Gauthier was locked up connected a six-year, $81 cardinal woody connected Sept. 15 aft a 41-goal season.
Anaheim bought retired erstwhile 50-goal scorer Chris Kreider. Centers Mikael Granlund and Ryan Poehling determination up the lineup.
Other than 4 preseason games connected tape, there’s not overmuch to what the Ducks look like.
“Our guys that were present cognize the radical they played successful the 2nd round,” Craig said. “There’s definite things that were talked astir successful that bid and were adjusted arsenic the bid went on.”
The 2nd circular was erstwhile halfway William Karlsson returned to the lineup aft missing 68 games with a hamstring injury. The enactment of Karlsson, Mitch Marner and Brett Howden combined for 19 points successful the series.
Marner had 11 of the points, including the extremity of the playoffs successful the clinching Game 6. He had his archetypal vocation playoff chapeau instrumentality successful Game 3.
Karlsson’s enactment was the lone trio that didn’t registry a constituent successful the 5-2 triumph implicit Chicago. The 3 had their chances — a mates of backdoor opportunities went wide — but couldn’t convert.
“We’ve got to fastener it successful a small more,” Karlsson said. “The chances were there. Hopefully we tin support creating chances.”
