On Friday, England recorded its highest temperature of the period at 35.2C in Coton‑in‑the Elms, Derbyshire, while Wales peaked at 34.3C in Usk, Monmouthshire. Scotland’s top reading was 29.7C at Threave, Dumfries and Galloway, and Northern Ireland reached 27.4C in Killowen, Co. Down.
Saturday’s forecast places the warmest conditions in the west Midlands, south‑east Wales and parts of southern England, with highs expected up to 33C. A brisk north‑easterly flow will cause eastern England to feel a noticeable dip in temperature. The North Sea coastline from Northumberland to Suffolk is likely to remain cloudy and misty, though skies should clear considerably by Sunday. Scotland and Northern Ireland are also anticipated to experience increased cloud cover, while showers over eastern Scotland are expected to dissipate by Sunday, allowing more sunshine to return. Temperatures across the region are projected to settle around 23 or 24C at best, with eastern Scotland staying cooler.
As the wind strengthens on Sunday, temperatures in England and Wales will drop a few degrees from Saturday’s levels, although southern England could still approach 30C.
