Bishop Gorman’s football squad, ranked No. 8 nationally by MaxPreps and USA Today, defeated Lone Peak of Utah 38‑14 on Friday night, snapping a skid that began with a loss the previous Saturday at Christopher Columbus in Florida.
The victory improved the Gaels to 3‑1 on the season and marked the first time since 2018 that they have avoided back‑to‑back defeats. Bishop Gorman took a 28‑7 lead into halftime.
Running backs Noah Cole, Corey Hinton Jr. and Trey Washington each found the end zone in the opening half. Cole paced the ground attack with 96 rushing yards.
Defensively, four‑star sophomore Brayley Manning intercepted two passes before the break, while Tamatoa Gaoteote pounced on a fumble and returned it more than 30 yards for a touchdown just prior to halftime.
Bishop Gorman will idle next week before closing its out‑of‑state slate at No. 15 Mater Dei of California on Sept. 18. The Gaels remain winless against the Monarchs, holding an 0‑5 all‑time record in the series.
