Bishop Gorman celebrated Senior Night with a 54-0 shutout of CIVICA on Friday at Fertitta Field, extending the Gaels' winning streak to seven games and keeping them atop the Nevada Division 5A standings at 9-1. The victory marked the program's seventh win at Fertitta Field this season, where Gorman has outscored opponents 266-13 over its past five home games.

The celebration turned to concern with 3:16 remaining in the fourth quarter when CIVICA freshman quarterback Stacey Monroe was injured at the end of a play and did not get up. After a lengthy pause, paramedics placed Monroe on a spinal board and transported him by ambulance across the field. The game ended after an agreed-upon stoppage in play.

Coach Brent Browner addressed the incident afterward, emphasizing player safety. "Player safety is important for everybody," Browner said. "I think everything we do here is that, from every piece of equipment we buy there is a padding underneath the field that nobody knows is even under there. That is to make sure (the players) are all safe. Things are going to happen no matter what but I think obviously our staff did a great job on taking care of that piece and making sure he was OK."

On the field, starting quarterback Ace Amina completed all seven of his pass attempts for 149 yards and two touchdowns before being replaced after Gorman took a 28-0 lead early in the second quarter. Backup Brody Amina added 93 yards and two touchdowns, including a 53-yard scoring strike on the first play of the Gaels' final first-half possession to make it 41-0 at halftime. Senior wide receiver Aizen Costales-Torres caught three passes for 52 yards and two touchdowns.

Browner praised the team's unselfishness on Senior Night. "Obviously, Senior Night is a great night for guys that haven't played a lot so a lot of those guys got time which is amazing," he said. "I thought one of the most impressive parts was watching some of the guys who start a lot humble themselves and not be worried about 'me, me, me,' so I thought it was pretty cool."
