2 hospitalized, shooter dead after shooting at an Oregon elementary school On Thursday, law enforcement sources told CNN that four individuals—one adult and three children—were killed in a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. It remains unclear whether the shooter is included in that count. Bend police responded just before 1 p.m. after an initial report of a person firing a gun into a car. Within minutes, additional callers reported that someone had entered the school and began shooting. Officers soon learned the suspected shooter had been shot and killed inside the building, though authorities have not determined whether the shooter was killed by someone at the school or by police. At least two people were taken to a hospital, and children were among those injured. Police have not confirmed whether the injured children are the same individuals transported to the hospital, and no updates on their conditions have been released. A reunification site for families has been established at Journey Church, 61303 S Highway 97 near Goodwill and Dairy Queen. Authorities are asking people to avoid the area. “We are stunned and heartbroken by this senseless tragedy,” Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Steven Cook said. “We extend our deepest sympathy to the families and to everyone affected by this violence.” Senator Ron Wyden also issued a statement expressing condolences to the victims and their loved ones.
