What’s at stake in regular‑season finales for CCSD independent football teams?
There has not been a shortage of action for the 30 independent Clark County School District football teams. That activity will intensify next Friday, the final week of the scheduled regular season for CCSD independent teams. Several spots remain open in the race for the inaugural Superintendents Cup, the playoff format created by CCSD football programs after they withdrew from the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association this past spring.
The 30 teams have been split into three 10‑team divisions, each containing two five‑team leagues. The top two teams from each league, based on standings, will advance to play for the Superintendents Cup within their division and meet in crossover games (semifinals) on Oct. 16, with the winners proceeding to the final on Oct. 23. The remaining teams finishing third through fifth will play one another in consolation games during the last two weeks.
Here’s a look at where things stand for the Superintendents Cup race across the three divisions heading into next week.
