European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told legislators on Wednesday that she aims to work toward "opening the door" for Canada, a development that would deepen cooperation in several key sectors. U.S. President Donald Trump warned that he would take action against the EU if it granted Canada the status of its first "associate member".
