Watch: Beluga whales rescued from closed Canadian marine park arrive in US

Six beluga whales have arrived at aquariums in the United States after being relocated from a closed Canadian marine park that could no longer accommodate the animals. The whales are part of a larger pod of 30 belugas residing at Marineland of Canada that require new homes. Sierra, Acadia, Osiris and Lillooet were transferred to a Chicago facility, while Bertie Botts and Frankie were taken to SeaWorld in San Antonio, Texas. The mammals were moved in specialized cold‑water containers by truck and plane, with marine mammal veterinarians accompanying them throughout the journey. This transfer marks the initial phase of an unprecedented global relocation effort. The move followed months of planning and veterinary examinations, and specialist teams are now monitoring the whales as they adjust to their new environments.
