Vice President Vance’s Las Vegas stop to lead to air, road traffic disruptions

Vice President JD Vance’s scheduled stop in Las Vegas on Monday is set to trigger both air and road traffic disruptions. Vance is slated to speak Monday evening at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s Annual Leadership Summit, which will be held at The Venetian on the Strip. A temporary flight restriction for VIP travel was issued by the Federal Aviation Administration on Saturday, covering the airspace over Southern Nevada from 3:30 p.m. Monday until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Such restrictions are routinely put in place when the president or vice president travels to a given area. The timing of the restriction, which extends into Tuesday morning, indicates that Vance is expected to remain overnight in Las Vegas. Upon landing Monday afternoon and before proceeding to The Venetian, the vice president’s motorcade will travel from Reid Airport to the resort, prompting temporary halts on local roadways. Area roads and freeways that could be affected by the motorcade’s route include the Airport Connector, the 215 Beltway, Interstate 15, Spring Mountain Road, Las Vegas Boulevard, Tropicana Avenue, University Center Drive and Paradise Road.
