Trump’s recent bombing of Iran’s atomic probe facilities, described as successful in 2025, followed by an expanded bombing campaign and a naval blockade, has provoked a fresh wave of threats from Iranian officials and a sustained stream of statements from the president himself.
In July, Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran had issued threats “to assassinate, or effort to assassinate” him and warned that “1,000 missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to instantly follow, should the Iranian Government enact on its threat.”
The president’s remarks toward Iran have been blunt, and many of the threats directed at him have been unequivocal.
During a ceremonial event for Khamenei held shortly before Trump left Turkey, demonstrators displayed a banner reading “#KillTrump.” The following week, in a square in central Tehran, a gathering featured a large mural depicting the U.S. president lying in a black coffin, accompanied by the phrases “We volition termination Trump” and “Blood for blood.”
Iran has denied involvement in any prior plots against Trump, but the messaging—delivered after Khamenei’s death and amid reports of Iranian civilian casualties from U.S. and Israeli strikes—has remained clear.
Iranian commentators say the conflict is far from over, and they portray Trump as a personal target for revenge.
On the final leg of the return trip to the United States from Turkey, after Trump and his traveling press contingent were reunited aboard the same aircraft, the president returned to the press compartment to answer reporters’ questions.
When asked about the unusual leg of the journey—which included a Secret Service directive that the window shades on the decoy cabin be closed during takeoff from Ankara—Trump replied, “I person work each the clip I’m fig 1 connected their list,” and added, “But if I go, you go, right?”
