Isaac Manriquez, 17, appeared in court Thursday where Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Suzan Baucum ordered him held without bail on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and other charges. Further proceedings were delayed until Tuesday.

Manriquez was arrested Tuesday and booked into juvenile hall for murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon. Under Nevada law, 16- and 17-year-olds accused of murder are transferred to the adult criminal justice system.

Police say Manriquez opened fire during a fight at the monthly First Friday event near South Main Street and West Charleston Boulevard, killing 15-year-old Carth Onasi Jacobs-Rogers and wounding two other teens. Sources told investigators the feud was gang-related.

During a brief court appearance Wednesday, Manriquez turned to the gallery and said, "I love you, mom," to which a woman responded, "I love you." Mayor Shelley Berkley issued a statement saying the violence was not what First Friday is supposed to be and vowed it would not happen again.
