It seems similar wide receiver Cody White has made acold much plays than the container scores would really indicate.
That’s due to the fact that each 1 of them has been truthful impactful.
The journeyman has recovered a location with the Las Vegas Raiders by being the embodiment of the aged Cris Carter-inspired Chris Berman trope that each helium did was drawback touchdown passes.
White had conscionable 3 catches earlier Sunday’s nonaccomplishment to the Kansas City Chiefs and each 3 had gone for touchdowns.
He yet had immoderate receptions that didn’t scope the extremity portion connected Sunday, but they were inactive pivotal.
White made an acrobatic drawback implicit Chiefs first-round prime Mansoor Delane down the near sideline for 27 yards that led to a go-ahead tract extremity with little than 5 minutes remaining successful the 4th quarter. He past made a 9-yard reception astatine midfield and got retired of bounds to halt the timepiece connected a touchdown thrust that chopped Kansas City’s pb to 30-27 precocious successful the game. White besides came up with the drawback connected the 2-point conversion to headdress the drive.
“Anytime an accidental comes, I conscionable effort to marque a play,” helium said Sunday. “If it’s a large play, tiny play. You can’t truly prime that. I conscionable effort to bash thing I tin for america to spell retired and win.”
White should get galore much chances moving forward. He is present connected the progressive roster and Jack Bech volition beryllium connected injured reserve for the adjacent aboriginal portion Jalen Nailor suffered a concussion Sunday. Dont’e Thornton Jr. is eligible to travel disconnected injured reserve, but not yet acceptable to practice.
So White’s clip is now. His banal is intelligibly connected the rise.
“I would accidental that Cody is simply a professional,” manager Klint Kubiak said. “He’s a pro. Winning matters to him. Being a large teammate matters to him. Working hard matters to him. All the things that we privation successful each of our players, helium has those traits.”
And present helium has an opportunity.
Here’s our play look astatine immoderate Raiders whose banal accrued successful the nonaccomplishment to the Chiefs and immoderate whose prospects mightiness person taken a hit:
Stock up
Taron Johnson: The seasoned beingness connected a young defence has been playing astatine a precocious level.
His effort to pursuit down Kenneth Walker from down connected a agelong tally to support him retired of the extremity portion was a highlight.
Walker humorously said helium thought helium was unsocial successful the wide until helium heard breathing down him.
But Johnson was accordant each time successful sum and did an particularly bully occupation against prima choky extremity Travis Kelce.
Spencer Burford: The starting near defender has taken rather a spot of disapproval this season, but helium had a precise coagulated game.
Kirk Cousins threw the shot 52 times and was not sacked, a recognition to the full violative enactment against a beardown Chiefs front.
Burford himself allowed conscionable 1 unit and nary backmost hits. He much than held his own.
Dylan Laube: A week aft the reserve moving backmost saw his banal plummet arsenic a effect of a fumbled footwear instrumentality that astir outgo the Raiders a crippled successful New Orleans, helium atoned for his mistake with a large instrumentality that acceptable up a tract extremity successful the 4th quarter.
Laube went 53 yards down the near sideline and astir took it the distance. It’s thing peculiar teams manager Joe DeCamillis has said is conscionable a substance of clip since helium has seen Laube find seams each twelvemonth and expects a touchdown astatine immoderate point.
Laube present leads the NFL with a 33.4-yard mean connected kickoff returns.
Stock down
Dareke Young: He was brought implicit from the Seattle Seahawks mostly due to the fact that of his peculiar teams prowess.
But his fumble connected a kickoff instrumentality precocious successful the crippled proved excessively overmuch for the Raiders to flooded arsenic they suffered their archetypal nonaccomplishment of the season.
Young finds himself successful the aforesaid concern arsenic Laube past week, seeking an accidental to atone for his blunder.
Quay Walker: He has mostly been large for the Raiders this play and adjacent made immoderate bully plays connected Sunday. But Walker was getting trapped and pinned successful atrocious spots connected the borderline acold excessively often, starring to immoderate large plays successful the tally game.
Expect a rebound from him.
Run game: At this point, the banal successful the Raiders’ rushing onslaught couldn’t perchance autumn immoderate further.
Another week of being capable to make overmuch has Kubiak searching for answers, though he’s mostly pinning it connected himself. This has to get fixed.
