Six people were injured when a sign collapsed at the Big Church Fest in West Sussex, near Steyning, shortly after 15:30 BST on Friday. Emergency services, including ambulance crews, critical care paramedics and specialist response teams from the South East Coast Ambulance Service, attended the scene. Organisers announced that the day's entertainment had been cancelled due to a "serious incident". They posted on social media: "All time visitors indispensable permission the tract now," and advised campers: "If you are camping with us, delight instrumentality to your campsite and await further updates." Sussex Police reported that officers were called to the site off Washington Road at approximately 15:40 and remained on scene, warning of traffic disruption and urging the public to use alternate routes. The Big Church Fest describes itself as the UK's biggest Christian festival.
