Rush will perform five shows at Sphere in Las Vegas in May 2027, band co-founders Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced. The concerts are scheduled for May 21, 23, 26, 28 and 30. Each night's set will include fan favorites and greatest hits from the band's catalog in celebration of Rush's music, its legacy and the life of the late drummer and lyricist Neil Peart, according to the announcement.
Lee said he thought about the venue when he first heard of Sphere. "When I first heard of Sphere, I thought to myself, 'wow, what a shame that RUSH is no longer touring, because this venue sounds tailor made for the kind of visual attitude with which we have always designed our shows,'" Lee said. He said the band is preparing for the residency. "We are presently working hard to expand our touring concepts and concoct some new madness to suit this incredible venue and musically perform the kind of show we've been doing in some of our 'one off' cities," Lee said. "Meaning playing all of 2112 and all of Moving Pictures along with an array of other songs."
The shows will use Sphere's LED display, which wraps up, over and around the audience, according to the announcement. The venue also uses an audio system called Sphere Immersive Sound. Lee and Lifeson are Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Lee plays bass, keys and vocals. Lifeson plays guitar and vocals.
For the tour and the Sphere dates, Lee and Lifeson will be joined by German drummer, composer and producer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold.
