Raiders receiver goes to injured reserve as linebacker re-signs

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. has been placed on injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least the first four games of the season. The move came Monday, a day after the team unveiled its 53‑man roster. Thornton has not practiced in recent weeks despite earlier optimism that he might see action during the preseason. Among the Raiders’ receiving corps, Tre Tucker, Jalen Nailor, Jack Bech, Malik Benson and Dareke Young remain steady options. As a rookie in 2023, Thornton appeared in 15 games, catching 10 passes for 135 yards. In a related transaction, the club signed linebacker Segun Olubi. Olubi spent the previous four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and participated in training camp, though he was not initially included on the 53‑man roster. He is known for a special teams play in which he blocked a punt against Las Vegas last year and carries career totals of 50 tackles, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Olubi joins Nakobe Dean, Quay Walker, Tommy Eichenberg and Cody Lindenberg in the Raiders’ linebacker group.
