The Metropolitan Police Department said a motorcyclist did not survive a crash with a suspected DUI driver that occurred at the intersection of East Serene Avenue and South Spencer Street Sunday.

According to a Metro release, a 2025 Baodio 10 Lines motorcycle was traveling northbound connected Spencer Street erstwhile a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan made a near crook “against a reddish crook arrow signal” and collided erstwhile it crossed the motorycle’s way of travel.

The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dormant astatine the scene, Metro said.

The operator of the Volkswagen, Danny Simpkins, 53, suffered insignificant injuries, showed signs of impairment and was arrested connected DUI-related charges, the merchandise said.
