Oslo mayor calls off wedding ceremony after death of Norway's king

Oslo Mayor Anne Lindboe has postponed her wedding following the death of Norway’s King Harald V. The ceremony, originally scheduled for Friday with fiancé Pål Sandvid, was delayed after the king passed away early that same day, a municipal adviser confirmed to the BBC. In an Instagram tribute, Lindboe wrote, “It's hard to imagine an Oslo and a Norway without you. You didn't ask a crowd to be King.” King Harald V reigned for 35 years and died at the national hospital in Oslo, where he had been receiving treatment for a rare blood disorder. His son, King Haakon VIII, ascended the throne on Friday. Lindboe added in the same post, “Even the majority of Norwegians who never met you in person still felt like they knew you.” No new date has been set for the wedding, the adviser said. Lindboe and Sandvid announced their engagement in June after five years together.
