Arbor View senior Elyse Bonneville has been named the Nevada Preps Girls Athlete of the Week for the period of Oct. 26-31. The announcement was made following a vote that closed at noon Thursday.
Bonneville earned the honor for her performance on the soccer field. The Aggies secured a 3-0 playoff victory over Shadow Ridge on Wednesday, during which the freshman forward scored two goals. She has accumulated 10 goals and three assists this season.
Bonneville was one of four nominees for the weekly award. The other candidates included a Legacy volleyball player who recorded 17 kills and three aces in a playoff win over Tech, a Coronado cross country runner who won the Desert League regional meet with a time of 20:44, and a Faith Lutheran runner who won the Mountain League regional meet in 21:07.
In other postseason action, Arbor View's girls soccer team stunned defending state champion Faith Lutheran in the Class 5A state semifinals. Bishop Gorman advanced to the final by defeating Centennial in penalty kicks. The state soccer tournaments began Friday in Las Vegas, with Arbor View entering as the top seed in the 5A boys bracket and Palo Verde as the top seed in the 4A girls bracket.
