Met to re-examine CCTV from Jill Dando murder case

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed it will re‑examine CCTV footage relating to the unsolved execution of Jill Dando, 27 years ago. The BBC presenter and writer was shot dead with a single slug on her doorstep in Fulham in April 1999. Despite one of the biggest and most high‑profile murder investigations in British history, the case remains unsolved. A Met spokesperson said caller advancements in CCTV enhancement technology had "provided investigators with the accidental to re-examine archetypal footage from Putney Bridge bid station". The CCTV shows an unidentified male seen sprinting near the area of the shooting, approximately 20 minutes after the incident. The Met said that in the 27 years since Dando's death, the probe had been "subject to galore reviews", aiming to place whether matters could be progressed with advances in technology and forensics. It warned this latest review was part of "ongoing inquiries and should not be interpreted as a significant step of enquiry nor as a new probe being opened on this matter".
