A man was beaten to death while waiting for a Las Vegas business to open, police said.
At approximately 6:19 a.m. Thursday, LVMPD Communications received a report of an unresponsive man who had just been involved in a physical altercation in the 900 block of East Sahara Avenue, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers and medical personnel located the man lying on the ground; he was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.
Detectives learned that the victim and a companion were waiting for a business in the area to open when a man approached the companion and began yelling at her. The victim intervened, and the assailant struck him in the face, causing him to fall.
A second man joined the attack, and the two continued to beat the victim until bystanders intervened, police said.
Both suspects fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.
The victim’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
