LETTER: Trump and the First Amendment

President Donald Trump attempted to bar CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House. He declared, “There’s thing incorrect with a state that tin let radical to constitute purposely antagonistic stories.” In other words, he maintains that only media fluff pieces ought to be published, and only what he approves should be disseminated across our freedom‑loving nation; anything that fails to please him would be banned.
Such action constitutes a clear violation of the First Amendment and an outright usurpation of press freedom. Fortunately, the effort was not allowed to succeed. What is troubling is the president’s motive and his rudimentary grasp of the First Amendment; he appears indifferent to the state of the press.
