SinCity Press – Randy Kornfield Henderson, July 24, 2026 - 9:00 pm
In a letter to the editor submitted Monday evening, Randy Kornfield Henderson argued that current legislation aimed at curbing stock purchases by members of Congress falls short. He contended that every individual elected to national office ought to be mandated to sell all equity holdings prior to taking office and to place the proceeds exclusively in Treasury securities. The requirement, he said, should extend to immediate family members and senior staff. Although the maturities of these government instruments differ, they nevertheless provide funding for federal operations, thereby aligning a lawmaker’s personal financial interests with the nation’s fiscal health. Henderson urged that the divestment rule remain in effect for two years after an official leaves office.
