Arnold rushed for 110 yards and two scores while throwing for 158 yards and three touchdowns. His two‑yard run with 3:25 left in the fourth quarter put the Rebels ahead 39‑25 and capped a comeback that erased a 17‑point halftime deficit.
UNLV entered the break leading 24‑7 after explosive plays of 70, 55 and 36 yards in the first half. California answered early with a 91‑yard touchdown pass to take a 7‑0 lead, but the UNLV defense held the Golden Bears in check thereafter, limiting Jaron‑Keawe‑Sagapolutele to 195 yards on 19‑of‑27 passing before he left the game with an injury in the second quarter.
California outscored UNLV 11‑0 in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 24‑18 heading into the final period. The Golden Bears then capitalized on a UNLV fumble on the ensuing kickoff, scoring a touchdown and a field goal to seize a 25‑24 advantage on a seven‑yard run with 11:35 remaining.
UNLV responded with two consecutive touchdowns to put the game out of reach, ultimately holding on for a 39‑31 victory that improved the Rebels to 3‑2 on the season.
