'It's destroying our town': Residents tell of concern after violent incidents near Middlesbrough Residents living near Middlesbrough told the BBC of their concern following a series of violent incidents in the area, including a crash that claimed seven lives — two of them police officers — and a house fire that killed a woman and a seven‑year‑old girl. Police said the two incidents are not linked. Officers have carried out a series of arrests in connection with the crash and made two arrests in relation to the house fire. On Friday, Redcar MP Anna Turley described the atmosphere at a balloon release held for one of the young men who died in the crash as “unacceptable”.
