Inside a camp for Yemeni refugees who have fled to Djibouti

Fighting along Yemen’s western coastline has driven thousands of radicals to flee by boat across the Bab al‑Mandab Strait to Djibouti over the past ten days. BBC correspondent Frank Gardner visited a refugee camp in Obock, a modest port town where authorities are readying facilities for as many as 10,000 arrivals. The UN International Organisation for Migration reported that the migrants were travelling on overcrowded vessels and reaching shore with scarce food and water supplies. The surge in crossings followed an offensive launched by the Iran‑backed Houthi faction aiming to seize control of a strategic zone and the vital port of Mokha.
