'I have chronic cancer but I'm not going to die': BBC presenter Maryam Moshiri

BBC News presenter Maryam Moshiri said she has been living with polycythaemia vera for two years and explained how the chronic condition will affect the remainder of her life. She revealed that she was diagnosed in November 2024 with the rare, treatable blood cancer, noting that while it cannot be cured, it can be managed effectively. In a discussion with colleague Lucy Hockings, Moshiri remarked that she felt fortunate her general practitioner caught the disease early and reflected on her emotions following the diagnosis.
