'Enough is enough': Vigils held for murdered women in South Africa

Runners in South Africa gathered to pay tribute to Elizabeth Moselakgomo after her body was found east of Johannesburg. She is one of nine women whose remains have been recovered in the Kempton Park area since July. Known locally as “Tsontso,” the jogger disappeared during a regular run. In Centurion, a running event was organised to honour her and to support women’s right to run freely. Nonhle Mpohlo said, “This is for her - we just want to live and run and travel back home without having to think that it may be one of us.” In Cape Town, people assembled in a vigil to honour the victims and called on the authorities to act. Police have since set up a task force to analyse the murders and have urged women in the Kempton Park area to avoid walking or running alone, particularly in isolated areas.
