Eric Villazana was found guilty Monday by a Clark County jury of three charges—DUI resulting in death, failing to stop at the scene of a crash and disobeying a traffic signal—after a November 29 collision that claimed the life of Transportation Security Administration agent Abraham Ibale.
According to a police report, Villazana was driving a pickup truck when he struck Ibale’s motorcycle after failing to yield at the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Mountain Vista Street in the early morning hours. Ibale, who was en route to his shift at Harry Reid International Airport, died at the scene.
Investigators said Villazana had visited a tavern on North Decatur Boulevard in the hours leading up to the crash. He fled the area and was later apprehended at an apartment fewer than two miles from the collision site.
Online records from the Las Vegas Justice Court show Villazana faced the same three counts before the jury’s verdict. Sentencing is scheduled for October.
