Colts’ Keenan Allen formally charged with two alcohol-related misdemeanors

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen has been formally charged with two alcohol‑related misdemeanors stemming from his Aug. 30 arrest, according to Marion County court records. Prosecutors filed a Class A misdemeanor for operating a vehicle with a blood‑alcohol concentration of 0.15 or higher and a Class C misdemeanor for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The six‑time Pro Bowl wide receiver, 34, was taken into custody shortly after 1 a.m. in downtown Indianapolis after Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers found his car parked in a no‑parking zone. Officers noted signs of intoxication, and a subsequent test showed his blood‑alcohol level at 0.224, which triggered the higher‑level charge. Allen posted a $500 bond and waived the initial hearing that had been set for Wednesday. His next court appearance, a lawyer conference, is scheduled for Oct. 26. The Colts said they were aware of the incident and are gathering information. General manager Chris Ballard indicated any internal discipline would be handled by the team, noting that Allen could also face supplemental action from the NFL once the legal process concludes. The arrest came just hours after Allen made his preseason debut with Indianapolis against Detroit on Aug. 29. He signed a one‑year deal with the Colts in August after spending most of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers. Allen played in Indianapolis’ season opener versus the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, recording six receptions for 32 yards in a 41‑23 loss. Entering his 14th NFL season, he holds career totals of 1,061 receptions, 12,083 receiving yards and 70 touchdown catches over 172 games.
