Campaigners call for Jared Leto's concerts to be cancelled after criminal sexual conduct claims

Thirty Seconds to Mars, the band formed by Jared Leto and guitarist Shannon in the early 1990s, is known for tracks such as “The Kill”, “This Is War” and “Kings And Queens”. The group began touring in the 2000s and eventually headlined major arenas worldwide. In the BBC documentary *Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret*, two longtime collaborators described feeling uneasy about Leto’s interactions with teenage girls. One said crew members were told to invite young women backstage after shows. Another recalled that, at any given time, roughly two teenage girls would stop by to see Leto while the band was working. Ex‑model Alex said her agency received an invitation to a Thirty Seconds to Mars show at London’s O2 arena in 2013. She was originally asked to attend an after‑party by Leto’s female assistant. Although she was 19, she said she “felt the need” to represent herself as younger when meeting Leto. She told him she was 17; Leto, then 41, replied, “Age is just a number, and anyway, we're in Europe.” Alex said one of Leto’s assistants urged her to go to another venue nearby, but when she arrived only Leto was present. When she asked if she could sleep on the chaise longue, Leto allegedly told her she would wake up “with a dick in her ass”. She said she tried to ignore the incident, but now believes the encounter was “all planned out”. Altogether, ten women spoke to the BBC for the documentary; nine of them shared their allegations publicly for the first time. Despite multiple attempts by the BBC to contact Jared Leto before the story aired, he did not reply to the allegations. After the broadcast, Leto issued a statement through his representatives: “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my full life. These claims are completely and categorically false”.
