Two people were killed in a crash early Friday morning involving a wrong-way driver near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. The crash occurred on northbound Interstate 15, north of mile marker 54, at 3:22 a.m.
Authorities said the crash involved three vehicles: two four-door sedans and a semi-tractor trailer. One of the sedans was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-15. Both drivers of the sedans were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured and remained at the scene. All northbound lanes of I-15 at mile marker 54 were closed following the crash, with traffic diverted via the Speedway Exit onto Las Vegas Blvd north to the I-15/Apex location. The road closure remained in effect for an unknown amount of time as police investigated.
