An 80‑year‑old pedestrian was killed in a crash involving a driver who showed signs of impairment early Friday morning in the Las Vegas Valley, according to police.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the crash occurred at about 5:17 a.m. on East Cedar Avenue west of North Eastern Avenue.
Evidence at the scene, video surveillance and witness statements indicate that a 2017 Nissan Titan was traveling westbound on East Cedar Avenue when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing Cedar Avenue outside a marked or implied crosswalk.
The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center, where he later died.
The driver of the Nissan, identified by police as Jessica Cortez, 38, remained at the scene and showed signs of impairment, according to a police statement. It was not disclosed whether she was taken into custody.
