Majority of state's new voters identify as nonpartisan

Nevada’s voter rolls grew by nearly 21,000 in April, with most of the new voters registering as nonpartisan, according to a news release from the Secretary of State.
April saw 20,805 new voters register, an increase of 1.02%, bringing the total number of active registered voters in the state to 2,061,557.
The Democratic Party added 5,045 (a 0.90% increase), slightly beating out the Republicans who added 3,571 (a 0.63% increase). However, voters registered as Republican totaled 574,522, still outnumbering Democrats who had 568,778.
Most of the new voters, 11,467, registered as nonpartisan, bringing the total number of nonaffiliated voters to 786,136, the release stated.
