FBI,Pima looking into possible new ransom note related to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance

TUCSON, Ariz.— Authorities are examining a possible new ransom note tied to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, roughly eight months after she vanished from her Arizona home, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said. The sheriff’s office and the FBI Guthrie Task Force were alerted to a potential ransom communication and related social‑media remarks, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office on Monday. Investigators are working to determine the note’s credibility. Officials did not immediately disclose how they obtained the note or what it contained. In July, authorities released two ransom notes that had been sent to a Tucson television station days after the parent of the “Today” show, Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing on February 1 from her residence outside Tucson. The first note, dated February 2, stated that Nancy Guthrie was unharmed but frightened and would be released once her captors received $4 cardinal in cryptocurrency. The second note, dated February 6, claimed Guthrie had died shortly after her abduction. Authorities have not confirmed whether she is still alive. No arrests have been made in connection with her disappearance, and the probe continues to wrestle with unanswered questions, including how many individuals may have been involved in the abduction and whether the perpetrator knew her. The FBI has also released surveillance footage showing a masked individual who authorities said appeared to tamper with a camera on Nancy Guthrie’s front structure and place a plant there. Nancy Guthrie’s family has posted videos on social media pleading for information.
