Preparations for the November Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix are intensifying along the Strip, with work underway on a 3.8‑mile circuit that includes Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane, Harmon Avenue and Sands Avenue. Over the past five weeks crews have been installing signage and related infrastructure in anticipation of the race weekend, Nov. 19‑21.
The most disruptive element of the setup is the temporary Flamingo Road bridge over Koval Lane. Construction of the bridge is set to begin this Sunday and continue through Oct. 16, after which the Flamingo‑Koval intersection will be closed 24 hours a day. The two‑lane span will allow essential traffic to move in and out of the resort corridor while the circuit is active. Motorists traveling through the area are advised to use Tropicana or Sands Avenues as an east‑west detour for the coming week.
On Las Vegas Boulevard, track‑lighting installation has begun between Sands and Harmon, accompanied by overnight lane closures on the Strip that will continue through the end of the month. Three southbound lanes will be shut down between midnight and 9 a.m., Monday through Friday, lasting until Oct. 30. Meanwhile, the build‑out of the Bellagio Fountain Club proceeds, with two lanes of the Strip and the adjacent sidewalk remaining closed 24 hours a day in front of the building through late December.
Work on Sands Avenue continues with track‑lighting installation between Koval Lane and the Strip. To accommodate this activity, Sands will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday. Additionally, one eastbound lane on Sands between Las Vegas Boulevard and the Palazzo store remains closed 24 hours a day.
Track‑lighting on Koval Lane has been completed. The next phase that will affect traffic on Koval is the operation of the Flamingo bridge, scheduled for the following week.
On Harmon Avenue, some way‑lighting was installed during earlier weeks of work, with completion planned for the end of October into early November. A temporary vehicular span is being erected over Harmon on Audrie Street this week, which will necessitate an overnight closure of Audrie to the north of Harmon Avenue between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m., lasting through Friday.
